In a market that remains virtually untouched, the sky is the limit for the untapped potential wind energy brings in Central Eastern Europe (CEE).
Poland represents a major success story for CEE wind energy and lessons learned here can be addressed to other neighbouring countries that have yet to capitalise on this opportunity. Many view CEE as the natural successor for the Western European wind energy market. Several CEE countries will struggle to reach their renewable energy targets set for 2012 and 2020 as they rely heavily on fossil fuels. These countries are currently assessing the geographical potential for implementing wind energy amongst other renewable energy sources.
Wind Energy is an important pillar in the European Renewable Energy structure. It is a tried and tested market with room for technological and offshore development. Many companies are eager to look at the gap in the market and find a way to cash in on what promises to be a modern day gold rush. For many CEE countries an attempt to comply with EU emissions reductions targets is essential and governments are now pushing to remove complicated legislation and are adopting new feed in tariffs in order to show their support in developing this market.
It is essential for those working in the market to review the potential for every upcoming country pushing to include wind energy into their repertoire. It is also important to act quickly in the market as it opens, rather than enter on the tail end. Following a rather dissatisfactory year for the economy, along with an underlying fear over energy security and major international calls for action concerning climate change, it is only logical to produce a conference of this kind. It is important to consider how 2010 will move us forward from these issues.
This year EastEuro Link will work under this same premise. This annual event has taken place for the last two years in Poland and we are now moving to Slovakia in order to review a new and upcoming region for wind energy. We will also be looking specifically into Czech Republic, Poland and the Baltic States markets.
We promise to make our 3rd annual CEE Wind 2010 event unsurpassable and we hope that you will not forgo the opportunity to join us!
